PASTIS
The Ricard was created in 1932 by Paul Ricard. He was the son of a wine merchant and he
wanted to change the dubious reputation of absinthe, for this he spent many months in his laboratory
to elaborate a famous aniseed drink, this is the birth of Ricard. He started to market it in 1932 and the
image of friendly and local aperitif was born around this drink. However, many people were perplexed by it.
This is why Paul Ricard invented the word "Pastis" from the provencal "pastisson" and the italian "pasticchio" which
means mixture. This was the birth of Pastis.
