New Zealand is a unique wine region thanks to its geographical location. This is the wine region with the southernmost vineyards in the world!
The most important wine regions are: Marlborough and Otago on the South Island and Hawke´s bay with Gisborne on the North Island.
The white variety Sauvignon Blanc, which has become the flagship grape, is very typical for the Marlborough area. Other varieties such as Chardonnay, Viogner or Riesling are also grown here. Red wine made of Pinot Noir are also very popular.
