MALBEC CAHORS AOC DOMAINE DE CAUSE
The South West of France, aka Sud-Oest, lies between Bordeaux and Languedoc-Roussillon regions. It covers some unique grape varieties and terroir.
AOC Cahors produces only red wines and it’s home to the popular variety Malbec (min. 70% of total blend), also known as Côt or Auxerrois. The Cahors wines are recommended to drink after being aged for 5-10 years. These inky, "black" wines of plum and tobacco notes ideally match with Southern French cuisine, red meat, and strong roquefort cheese.
The Gaillac region produces white, rosé, red and, only marginally, sparkling and sweet wines. White Gaillac wines are made from the local variety Mauzac, which is traditionally blended with Len de l’el. It’s perfect wine for fish dishes and fresh cheeses.
