Zinfandel is the most famous Californian red variety. Other important red varieties are: Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Merlot. From whites are popular Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc (also known as Fume Blanc), Chenin Blanc, Riesling.
