The Terra Alta Denomination of Origin is the southernmost in Catalonia. It includes twelve municipalities in the Terra Alta region, an inland area of the province of Tarragona bordering Aragon. The climate, which is very sunny with little rainfall, and the clay soil, which is not very permeable, produce powerful wines with a high alcohol content.
