BIERZO

Bierzo D.O. is located in northwestern Spain in the mountains between Castilla y León and Galicia. This rural, little known wine region with hilly landscape has a special macroclimate and very promising future as one of Spain’s new wine hotspots. The key variety is the Mencía red grape which forms nearly two-thirds of all production. Typical Bierzo wines are fresh, fruity with smooth tannins, and show an enviable reflection of the minerally terroir.
